Having Emergency Car Kits in every vehicle is a must. Mom’s this is one life lesson I learned the hard way. You never know when a disaster is going to strike. Emergencies come in all shapes and sizes and when you have kids, no disaster is to big or small to be overlooked.
Whether it be a blizzard, tornado or flat tire take these simple steps to be prepared in the event of an emergency. This can be a very basic kit of supplies you have on hand right now. Prepare now to save your sanity and possibly your life later!
Here is a list of suggested items to start with. This list contains the necessary survival items for 1 person for 72 hours. Make sure to prepare a pack for each family member.

- radio with batteries
- whistle
- compass
- plastic grocery sacks
- medical tape
- fork, knife, spoon, and bowl

- sharp knife
- flash light and batteries
- matches / lighter
- candles / lantern
- signal flare
- blanket
- trail mixes
- gum
- 3 cans of soup
- 3 instant oatmeal packs
- granola bars
- 1 gallon of water
- soap
- toothbrush and toothpaste
- comb and/or brush
- baby wipes
- wash clothes
- sanitary napkins
- diapers (if applicable)
- razors
- packet of Kleenex
- deodorant

- mirror
- aspirin
- pain relievers
- antiseptic ointment
- band-aids
- tweezers
- sun block
- q-tips
- cotton balls
- outfit (change of clothes)
- poncho
- shoes
- sewing kit
- money
- phone calling card
- back pack with name, address and phone number on it
Pack all the materials into the back pack. Keep on for each member of your family. Add items to suit your families needs such as games for the kits or and emergency car kit for the dog. In addition to the items above pack what you feel would be necessary in an emergency situation.
